Short Fuse Cinema: Banned, Buried, and Still Burning
Some films strike the match and never bother with small talk. These six thrillers burn fast and hot: a dinner party murder staged as a parlor trick, a blackmail plot that dared to name what the censors wouldn't, a subway car turned pressure cooker, a Harlem heist gone sour, a couple unraveling under surveillance, and a desert manhunt with no mercy in sight. Banned, bowdlerized, or simply forgotten, each was judged too dangerous for its moment, and each still crackles with the nerve that rattled the gatekeepers. Each one wraps up before the 100 minute mark. Light the fuse and run.
