Jacques Becker
The complete filmography of Jacques Becker — the quietly masterful French director whose career bridged poetic realism and the nascent New Wave. From the criminal milieu of Touchez pas au grisbi to the jeweler's obsession in Casque d'or, Becker's cinema is defined by a precise, unhurried attention to gesture, milieu, and human complicity. A filmmaker unjustly overshadowed by his contemporaries, yet one Truffaut and Godard held in reverence.
