A street where a man wakes in a new face and learns he has bought a stranger's life. Where a neighbor looks the same as yesterday but doesn't feel the same. Where a quiet town is a soundstage, a lover is a machine, a hunger is a haunting, and a man grows smaller by the day until he is nothing to everyone but the universe itself. Some of these travelers will ask what is real. Some will ask who is watching. A few will ask the oldest question of all, which is whether they were ever alive to begin with. And on a distant shore, under a very familiar sky, one of them will find that the most terrifying thing in the cosmos is the face looking back from the mirror. You've been to this neighborhood before, perhaps in black and white on a late night, with the lights off and the volume low. Come back now. The doors are open, the hour is late, and the lamp is lit.
